About Stockli Skis
The History of Stockli Skis
The Stockli Ski Company has been handcrafting skis for 73 years, making it one of the oldest ski makers in the world. In 1936 while working at his parent's carpentry shop, Joseph Stockli made wooden skis out of ash for friends and colleagues.
Currently the factory is located in Malters, Switzerland. Stockli manufactures approximately 45,000 pairs of skis annually. With a focus on quality, not quantity, Stockli utilizes techniques and materials not commonly used by other ski manufacturers. The wood cores are a combination of ash, beech and okume which are milled for consistency and put together using a patented gluing process which gives the ski a very smooth flex and excellent durability. Some Stockli skis have 18-25 individual parts. The base material is the finest and fastest material on the market. It contains 20 percent more graphite than regular base material. All skis are handmade one at a time. It takes 7-10 days to produce one pair of Stockli skis. Fifty Stockli ski craftpersons take incredible pride in their work, resulting in the finest handmade skis in the world.
